  Sundeep Bhan, Chief Executive Officer, Co-founder

Sundeep has over 15 years of leadership experience with building teams, developing talent, and successfully growing, managing and selling businesses in healthcare marketing and technology. Prior to Medivo, Sundeep was the CEO and co-founder of Medsite, Inc. (sold to WebMD in 2006). He established Medsite as a leader in online pharmaceutical marketing and services by building an extensive online community of health care professionals, including over 400,000 US physicians. He secured financing from a range of blue chip investors, including JP Morgan Partners, Morgan Stanley, Bain, and Reuters. After the sale of Medsite to WebMD in the fall of 2006, he worked on integration, new product development, and corporate strategy at WebMD.

Mr. Bhan received his BA from the Annenberg School of Communications at the University of Pennsylvania, with a concentration in business from the Wharton School of Business. He was one of the ‘Top 5 Under 35’ by the Asian Indian Chambers of Commerce, and was a 3-time finalist for the Ernst and Young “Entrepreneur of the Year” award. He is currently a Director of the Board of Terasol Energy, 2012 NYC Venture Fellow, a member of the Leadership Council of CASI at the University of Pennsylvania and serves on the Advisory Board of KNB Communications, Inc.

  Destry Sulkes, MD, MBA , Executive Vice President, Co-founder

Dr. Sulkes has held executive positions in healthcare IT settings for over 15 years, including roles as Managing Director at Medsn, Inc., since acquired by Indegene, Managing Director at MedsiteCME, a subsidiary of Medsite, Inc., and Vice President of Medical Affairs and Strategy at WebMD. His research is published in leading peer-reviewed medical journals such as The American Journal of Medicine, The American Journal of Cardiology, Archives of Ophthalmology, Retina, and others.

Dr. Sulkes holds a BA from Dartmouth College and a joint MD/MBA with research honors from Tufts University School of Medicine. He currently serves in voluntary roles on the Board of Directors of the Alliance for Continuing Medical Education where he is the incoming Vice President, and as a Mentor for the Blueprint Health accelerator program for healthcare IT start-ups. He is married with a son and resides in NYC.

  Jason Bhan, MD, Executive Vice President, Co-founder

Dr. Bhan is a practicing Family Physician and seasoned entrepreneur serving as the EVP and Medical Director of Medivo. He is regarded as an emerging national expert in the applications of technology to healthcare and medicine, a topic on which he lectures and speaks regularly at conferences across the country. He co-founded Ozmosis, Inc., the physician’s trusted network and resource for medical knowledge. While in medical school, he served as the Medical and Technology Officer for VirtualMed, Inc.

Dr. Bhan obtained his Doctor of Medicine at the University of Miami School of Medicine in 2000. From 2000 to 2003 he completed his residency with the Medical College of Virginia (MCV), serving as Chief Resident in 2003. He is board certified in Family Medicine. His passion is population health, wellness, and education. Dr. Bhan practices medicine part-time in affiliation with Inova Hospital Systems.

  Rick Chung, J.D., General Counsel

Rick Chung has successfully counseled public and privately-held companies in expanding growth strategies, mitigating operational risk and establishing compliance and legal infrastructure.  Rick has held previous positions as General Counsel and Vice President for a leading and innovative technology and support services company, and as Associate Corporate Counsel for a mid-cap publicly traded company offering technology and managed care solutions in U.S., Europe and Asia.  At both companies, Rick successfully contributed to exponential growth in sales, market penetration, and geographic coverage.  Rick’s expertise includes health care compliance, software procurement, outbound licensing, data privacy and general corporate governance, including strategy, restructuring and risk mitigation.

Prior to joining Medivo, Rick was a senior corporate associate at Proskauer Rose LLP for over nine years where he assisted both venture capital clients and start-up technology companies in corporate finance, procurement and investor relations.  While authoring several published articles on technology and compliance, Rick has also been a panelist in several continuing legal education seminars on finance, regulatory compliance and economic trends, including Subprime Mortgage Loans, Predatory Lending, and SPE’s Proper Practice and Procedure.  Rick graduated from New York Law School, J.D. (magna cum laude) and University of Toronto, B.A. (distinction).  While not working, Rick enjoys spending time with family and friends.

  Steve Chase, Chief Financial Officer

Steve joins Medivo with over 20 years of financial management experience. He is skilled at directing and improving operational and financial processes with emerging businesses.  Steve has successfully led the finance function of three private-equity backed technology companies from growth stage through sale by public company strategic acquirers.  Steve gained considerable experience in healthcare as VP, Finance with Medsite, and with WebMD subsequent to WebMD’s acquisition of Medsite.

Prior to Medivo, Steve was Corporate Controller of Oberon Media, a publisher of casual games and the leading multi-platform worldwide distributor of casual games. Steve also served as Corporate Controller of Fortent, a financial services software provider acquired by NICE Actimize.  Prior to his corporate roles, Steve worked for 8 years in both the audit and mergers & acquisition practices with Deloitte, serving a variety of clients and industries.  Steve is a licensed CPA and earned a BS in Accounting and Finance from Virginia Tech.  Away from the office, Steve enjoys running and fitness and spending time with his family.

  John Alfano, Vice President, Program Management & Operations

John Alfano is an experienced business leader with a passion for making the world a better place. His experience spans over thirteen years running operations, program delivery, and product development, primarily in the healthcare marketing and technology space.

As Senior Vice President of Community Development & Marketing for P\S\L Group America, John was responsible for the acquisition, retention and productivity of physicians and other healthcare professionals across all of P\S\L’s U.S. and international businesses. As Vice President of Product Development for Medsite Inc. (acquired by WebMD Health), John led the marketing and development of Medsite’s industry leading online detailing, medical education and market research solutions, and played a key role in building and growing one of the largest and most valuable physician databases in the industry. As Vice President and General Manager of Medsite Rewards™, the industry leader in honoraria fulfillment, John oversaw all operations, marketing, client service, customer support, materials management, and distribution, with full P&L management responsibility for the $20 million business unit.

Prior to joining Medivo, John founded Global Renewable Energy Network (GReEN), the premier network for renewable energy professionals worldwide. John graduated from New York University, Leonard N. Stern School of Business with a B.S. in Marketing & International Business.

  Mark McCarthy, SVP, Pharmaceutical Business Development

From 2006 to 2011, Mark was at WebMD as Executive Director.  In this capacity, Mark had management as well as sales responsibility for Professional (DTP) and Consumer (DTC) business units.

Prior to WebMD, Mark spent four years at Medsite in New York, as VP of Sales where he was responsible for new business acquisition and helped establish Medsite as the eDetail industry leader.  Medsite was acquired by WebMD in 2006.  In addition, Mark spent 5 years with IDEAS International as VP of sales.   IDEAS was a multi-national accounting software firm selling directly to the energy industry.  Mark was located in New Jersey and Moscow where he drove sales and international expansion efforts.  Mark attended Limerick University in Ireland.

  Brett Shamosh, Vice President, Product Development

For the last 10 years, Brett Shamosh has guided the creation, management and distribution of digital content and applications for media companies such as the NHL, Oxygen, CSTV (CBS College Sports) and Tango Media. At the age of 16, Brett was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis, a chronic digestive disease that impacts quality-of-life. During a flare of his disease in 2009, he developed a symptom tracking iPhone application to provide better data to his doctor and learn more about his symptoms, medications and diet. Upon recognizing the benefits, he became an interactive health evangelist to help fellow sufferers of chronic disease work closely with physicians to manage their health and wellness.

In 2010, Brett started WellApps, an interactive health company that focused on mobile management of chronic diseases. Medivo acquired WellApps in 2012 and Brett joined the team as VP, Product Development, tasked with ensuring that all Medivo products provide meaningful value to providers and patients.

  Dan Berlinger, Vice President, Engineering & IT 

In the 4th grade Daniel was asked to step in into the hall because he was coaching fellow students on a similarity assignment he provided the class. Since then, Daniel’s passion for helping people has propelled him to be a creative developer of software and systems, and a team coach who excels at successfully delivering business value. This is his second foray building software for the healthcare field having previously designed software to help hospitals manage cases. He believes that healthcare is challenged by needless complexity and hopes his contribution will improve many people’s lives.

Daniel founded QuietlyHelping in 2009 in order to have a direct hand in helping families with the struggles of debilitating disease. QuietlyHelping is an organization of compassion and empathy that brings ease, comfort, smiles, laughter, healing, and love to people battling cancer and other diseases.

Spare time activities include cycling, occasional work as a musician, woodworking, photography, and reading books he never got around to in school. Unsurprisingly, Daniel is able to cook minute rice in just under thirty seconds.

  Christina Owczarski, Vice President, People Development & HR

Christina has over 15 years experience building people and organizational development programs that enable companies to meet business goals. In her leadership roles in the fields of health care, human resources, financial services, technology and marketing, Christina directed companies through mission and vision development, talent growth and retention, benefit plan design, compensation strategy, training and acquisition.

Prior to Medivo, Christina pioneered the creation of performance development and training initiatives with an emphasis on sales at Sidney Frank Importing Company, Inc. She spent six years leading people development at Medsite, where she designed management and corporate university training programs that cultivated future leaders to inspire and manage the company’s growth and ultimate acquisition by WebMD. Christina also volunteers her time coaching leaders and running workshops on professional development for various non-profits in New York City.

Christina has her master’s degree in organizational development from Robert J. Milano Graduate School in New York City and her bachelor’s degree from Goucher College in Baltimore.
