Happy New Year!

Dear Friends,

I wanted to give you an update and wish you the best for the coming year.

2010 was a great year of transition for me. I moved back to NY from Brazil and then, along with Destry and Jason, we started a new healthcare company focused on personalized medicine: Medivo, Inc. (I can’t believe it has been 4 years since we sold Medsite to WebMD!)

We are having a phenomenal first year at Medivo. In the last 10 months we acquired a company called Physicians Wellness Network, we have attracted some great talent, developed several products, signed on key clients, closed on an angel round, got great office space in NYC, and have completed over a million transactions on our platform…

In 2011, our plan is to double our size (fingers crossed), expand our team (yes, we are hiring!), raise our series A round, form strategic partnerships, and continue to work successfully with our current partners plus many new pharmaceutical, PBM, managed care, wellness and consumer-facing companies. Stay tuned for more updates. I look forward to being in touch throughout the coming year.

Happy Holidays and Best Wishes for 2011.

Thanks,

Sundeep

Why Medivo?

After selling Medsite to WebMD in 2006 I spent about a year at WebMD. I needed a break so I took a few years off (I had a non-compete) and moved to Brazil. (Why Brazil? That is a separate blog.) Anyway, with all the changes happening in healthcare I was itching to jump back in. As entrepreneurs we love big markets with lots of change. Healthcare is the largest market in the US with more change than we have seen in decades. So I called up Jason (Jason Bhan, MD – Family Physician and my cousin) and Destry (Destry Sulkes, MD, MBA – Friend and former colleague) and we started evaluating opportunities. We knew we had to create better access, help reduce costs and improve quality of care. It didn’t take long to come up with Medivo. Follow along…SB
