VirtualConsult FAQ

How long do Virtual Consults last?
The calls will last no more than 15 minutes, and generally averages around 10 minutes per call. Calls will not be cut off by the operator, but the participant and the physician have the expectation that there is a 15 minute time limit. Please try your best to cover all the material in 15 minutes.

What material is covered in the Virtual Consult?
There will be no diagnosis or treatment discussed during these calls. These are informational calls and can be about recent lab test results or a particular risk factor or condition that the person has, such as overactive bladder, decreased physical activity, or risk of falling. Use the opportunity to discuss the condition and, if further care is needed, recommend a follow up visit with their primary care physician for treatment.

How will I be compensated?
Physicians will be compensated $15 per call, regardless of call length. You can earn up to $60/hour and can work as many hours as you’d like per shift.

How are shifts scheduled?
We will work with you to find a convenient schedule. We are anticipating a high call volume beginning this summer/fall and request that you work several shifts per month. Shifts will be scheduled monthly for the following month. In the event that you will be unavailable due to vacation or leave of absence, please let us know so we can schedule coverage.

How will I be connected with the participant?
The participant will be given a toll free number to call at their appointment time. Our customer service representatives will field the call, confirm the participant’s identity and appointment time. The representative will then connect the call to the physician to begin the consult.

What if I’m not near my computer during the scheduled Virtual Consult?
While we prefer that you have the results in front of you for the call, we understand that this is not always possible. In the event that you are away from your computer, or could not print out the results, please let the representative know when the call is patched through. The representative will then dictate the results to you for the consult. You will still need to document the call online.

How is malpractice coverage addressed?
Medivo will cover medical malpractice insurance for these Virtual Consult encounters.
